Ballet- Ballet is fundamental in teaching students how to stand and move in proper ballet technique and alignment.
The students will learn some classical ballet terminology such as how to pirouette, plie, tendu, develepee, and the ballet
feet and arm positions.
Lyrical- The lessons on Lyrical combines the disciplines of ballet and jazz and emphasizes emotional
and spiritual expression. It will also be combined with modern dance that focuses on free- spirited movement that is natural but
maintaining a classical technique.
Hip Hop- When Hip Hop is taught in class it will allow the students to have fun learning the
latest dance steps while dancing for the Lord to Christian Hip Hop music. This class also teaches students how to modify some
of the Hip Hop movement so that it is not perceived to be seductive.
Tap- The tap classes will help students to master the fine motor skills through rhythmic movements
of the feet. It will help students increase their coordination and help prepare them for broadway and musical theater.
Jazz- When jazz is taught it will emphasize the proper placement of the arms as it concerns jazz
dance. It adds the elements of rhythm and isolation of the body to the skills learned in the ballet lessons.
Creative Movement - Creative Movement is for 20 mins and is taught during the one hour 3-5 year
old class. Teachers use literature in the form of books, stories and poetry along with music to create movement. Students
reading comprehension is improved along with their rhythm, flexibilty, coordination, space awareness, locomoter and non locomoter
skills.
Contemporary- Contemporary is a dance form that examines the choreagraphic and performing process by
drawing upon but not limited to the following modern dance techniques: Lestor Horton, Graham, Humphrey/Limon, Contact Improvisation,
and Laban Movement Anaylsis. Students will learn how to explore these modern dance techniques to create dance.
